The most visited museums in the EU
The European Group on Museum Statistics published the list of the most visited museums in the European Union. More than 9 million people visited the museum at the top of the list in 2016.
Louvre in Paris is the most visited museum, with 9.1 million people who have crossed the threshold last year. The podium is completed by the Versailles Palace in France (over 7.7 million visitors) and the Colosseum in Italy (5.6 million visitors).
More than 5 million tourists were attracted by the British Museum, the National Gallery of London, the National Museum of Natural History in London and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
