Acclaimed singer-songwriter Solange Knowles treated the audience to a moving interdisciplinary performance piece called An Ode To over two hour-long sets at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

The 30-year-old came into the sold out live shows off the back of her commercial and critical hit album A Seat at the Table, which confirmed her status as one of the world’s biggest R&B talents.

The Red Bull Music Academy New York 2017 event was a meditation on themes from the album that incorporated movement, installation, and experimentally reconstructed musical arrangements.

The crowd was asked to dress all in white and leave their phones at the door before sitting on the main floor of the rotunda or leaning over the circular balconies.

Solange, her band, singers and dancers then performed a string of hit songs including Rise, Mad and the extended climactic finale of Don’t Touch My Hair.
